Film publicity falls to an all time low with this disgusting email sent to us.

If you thought planting stories in media was unethical then what we are about to tell you will certainly blow away your brains… and we mean literally! Last night an email was sent to us by a PR firm (Cosmic Spider) who is handling a film called Pocket Gangsters. We are pretty sure you haven’t heard about the film but that’s not the point. The subject of the mail read as: Hot Rape Scene from the film Pocket Gangsters featuring actors Shivangi Mehra, Madhur Mittal, Vijay Raaz and others. You read that right! Yes, it’s shocking, cheap and degrading but sadly true. That’s how the PR machinery of Pocket Gangsters (directed by Hemant Nilim Das) is promoting the film. In a country where cinema has the power to influence people’s decision it’s gruesome that a film is being marketed from the rape angle. We know it’s not a big film but it’s a big enough matter to be taken seriously and to be condemned as well. Cinema has the power to change perspectives but in no way can a filmmaker, actor and actress can take this for granted. The film may not be promoting rape but the vulgar PR tricks are surely reinforcing the rape culture.
But hold on because the drama doesn’t end here. The PR reps even had the audacity to share the video link of the rape scene in the mail. In fact, a lot of links were shared and my eyeballs actually popped out reading them. Here’s mentioning few of them…

While we don’t push disturbing or should we say disgraceful content on our site, in this case we are compelled to because we not only want our readers but also industrywallahs to know that PR gimmicks has reached to an unforgiving level. At least in this case. But we don’t blame the PR representatives solely. How and why in the world would an actor or a director want his film to be promoted this way? More importantly if it’s a real story about a kidnapping survivor. Shows how insensitive people are willing to be just to market their film, hai na?
Lastly, we strongly feel the film needs to make an unconditional apology to the media for using rape as a cheap mechanism to promote their movie.

 

 

Did you know…Priyanka Chopra’s role of Kashibai in Bajirao Mastani was earlier offered to Rani Mukerji!

While it isn’t a lesser known fact that Priyanka Chopra has been working hard to prepare for her role of Kashibai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, not many know that the coveted role was earlier offered to Rani Mukerji.
SLB’s Bajirao Mastani was planned eight yeas back when actresses Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukerji were shortlisted to play the roles of Mastani and Kashibai respectively, however the film was never made. Moreover, Aditya Chopra’s wifey had refused the film as she didn’t want to play a second lead.
However, when the film was again being made Kashibai was then offered to the Exotic babe. Sources confirm that it was re-written to match PC’s stature as an actor and a star. As reported in an entertainment portal a source close to the project said,”Kashibai’s role according to SLB’s script was never a walk-over, not even 8 years ago when Kareena Kapoor was to play Mastani and Rani Mukerji was to play Kashibai. Now with Deepika (Padukone) and Priyanka playing the two parts, SLB has modified the characters accordingly.” While Rani refused to play the second lead, we suggest she take some cue from the Gunday actress considering the younger lot have now begun to prioritise quality roles over length. Way to go Ms Chopra!

Happy New Year song Indiawaale: Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s dance anthem is addictive!

The first song from SRK and Dippy’s much-awaited film is finally out

Farah Khan’s directorial venture Happy New Year starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah is one of the biggest films of this year. While the musical extravaganza will hit the theaters during Diwali , the makers for now have released the first song from the film which is titled Indiawaale. Composed by Vishal-Shekhar, this number has been sung by Vishal Dadlani, KK, Shankar Mahadevan and Neeti Mohan.
While the music is good, what really stands out is the way Indiawaale has been shot. The part where all the actors are performing on the stage has been filmed beautifully that too on a grand scale. Coming to the video, you get see SRK, Deepika, Abhishek, Sonu, Boman and Vivaan grooving together in this one. Though not all of them are terrific dances, together they do make a good team. Also, Jr Bachchan is to watch out for because of his hatke avatar.
Overall, Indiawaale is a good hear. Though we do think the music could have been more upbeat and thumping. Nonetheless, Bollywoodlifer we really want you to hear the song, watch the video and tell us what you think!

Revealed: Why Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rejected Badlapur with Varun Dhawan

We have the inside scoop on why Ash refused to work in a film with the Student of the Year actor

 

Before Sanjay Gupta announced Jazbaa as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s comeback film, there was talk that the actress might take up Sriram Raghavan’s film which was an untitled project then. Reports were doing the rounds that Ash had read the script and how excited she was with the subject.
However, that excitement was short-lived as Ash refused to do the film citing various reasons. The film we are talking about is none other than Badlapur that has Varun Dhawan along with Huma Qureshi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Yami Gautam in the lead roles.

A source tells BollywoodLife that Ash wasn’t too thrilled to be part of an ensemble project and wanted a film that had her as the solo lead. “Even though she liked the subject, Ash wasn’t too thrilled at the prospect of being part of a large group of actors in her come back film. Also her character has shades of grey and she didn’t’ want to do a negative role either.”
With her exclusion, Sriram apparently did some changes to the script and got two female leads Huma and Yami to be a part of the film!

 

Bang Bang song Meherban: Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif’s romantic number is refreshing!

Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif were seen dancing their shoes off last in Bang Bang‘s Tu Meri. While that party number has already become a hit with the listeners, we have yet another song from the film that will make its way to your hearts pretty soon!
Meherban is composed by the rocking musical duo Vishal and Shekhar and has been crooned by Ash King, Shilpa Rao and Shekhar Ravijiani. The lyrics are by Anvita Dutt.  The romantic number is shot at the scenic locations of Greece and Katrina looks nothing short of an ethereal beauty in the song. The Greek God of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan flaunts his chiselled body in the video and proves to be the hottest match for Kat in the song!

Contrary to the reports, the Honey-eyed actor isn’t part of the successful Hollywood franchise Step Up

Just a few days back, rumours were rife that Hrithik Roshan will star in Hollywood’s dance based film Step Up 6. Well, the film would have been a visual delight if Duggu were to play the lead but sadly that’s not the case. Yes, the Bang Bang actor hasn’t been approached for the dance film at all. While talking to a leading daily, Hrithik’s close friend said, “At the moment, he is only doing Ashutosh Gowariker’s next, which is a period film. Once Bang Bang releases, he plans to start doing research for Ashutosh’s project.” Apparently, the Krrish 3 actor feels that his name is being used just to create buzz around the dance film.
HR, who is currently busy with the action adventure film Bang Bang co-starring Katrina Kaif, hasn’t even signed any film except for Gowariker’s magnum opus Mohenjo Daro. The talented actor told the daily, “I am looking to do something edgy and different. I feel I’m more at ease with taking risks right now. Apart from Ashutosh’s film, I haven’t signed anything else."

It’s amazing to be romanced by Prem.” Anil Kapoor’s beti also said that her character is pivotal to the film, like of the other heroines in Barjatya’s previous films. The Khoobsurat actress further said, “Female characters in all of Soorajji’s films are strong characters. Also, it’s always the men trying to woo the women, not the other way round.”
Meanwhile, Sonam also couldn’t stop gushing about working with the Dabangg Khan. The Bewakoofiyaan actress who is working with the superstar for the first time said, “I have already shot with Salman for 30 days for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Director Sanjay Gupta reveals the entire storyline of Ash’s come back film

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is not going to be too happy with this! During a time when movie scripts and plots are heavily guarded, the director of Jazbaa, Sanjay Gupta has leaked the complete story and plot of his upcoming film starring Irrfan Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.
Talking to a leading tabloid Gupta who seemed excited to share news of how Ash bagged the film ended up giving away pivotal plot and character details in his conversation with the journalist. So while everyone has been branding the film as a ‘spy-thriller’, here’s what we could dig out about the film from Gupta’s mumbo-jumbo.

- “The film revolves around four characters. Irrfan plays a suspended cop, a loose cannon.”
- “Aishwarya plays a lawyer” (perhaps as a veiled spy?). Sources seemed to point out that Ash will play a spy and also do her own action scenes in the film. Perhaps her lawyer bit is an act she needs to put up to hide her real intentions.
- “The film will not depict any romance between the two but culminates on a note where you get a feeling that Aishwarya and Irrfan’s equation might develop into a relationship later.
- So Irrfan as a suspended cop and Ash as a lawyer, thats what their roles in Jazbaa seem to be!
- Surprise surprise! John Abraham plays a cameo in the film.
- Gupta is still on the look out for a fourth senior actress to play the final character.

Divyanka Tripathi aka Ishita Bhalla of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is chatty, vivacious and quite animated in her expressions. On the sets of the show, right from the spot boy, to the hair stylist find it very easy being around the actor.
Our crew visited the sets of YHM and was very pleased to see Divyanka treat everyone equally and with a lot of respect. There are a lot of celebs who throw temper tantrums and behave rudely to the spot boys, but Divyanka actually treats everyone like a family member. Everyone apparently has only nice things to say about her. In fact, we even overheard a few crew members claim that it’s fun on the sets with Divyanka around.
Well if Divyanka is reading this, we are sure the actor will be on seven heavens. Even during media interactions, Divyanka has always been accommodating and understanding – let’s hope all the other actors take a cue from her.
